Home page Radio exercises

Radioexercises.com

is a simple site about this (mainly)

Japanese phenomenon:

Rajio Taiso.

It shows some of my favorite YouTube sites with Radio Exercises and other exercise videos. And whatever I decide to put on this page.

This is my favorite one. It is linked above on the picture and has English narration.

Although many of the websites show young people outside many other sites are at workplaces.

Radio Taiso is a simple 3 minute exercise routine and doing both parts 1 and 2 brings it up to 6 minutes.

I’ve done Taiji (taiqi) for several decades but Radio Taiso really moves the Qi and Blood around. It can be done by young and old and even in a chair.

Some history: Radio exercise actually started in the USA but was taken up in full in Japan, Taiwan, China and throughout Asia.

Some history links here.

History 1: Japan Society of Houston.

Other types of exercise from other countries.

Yes if you visit (or live) in China you will people doing all sorts of exercises in the parks.

and some funny ones (or at least I think so)

Amime Exercise

I kind of like this one if only because it looks the video person had all sorts of ideas for green screen effects but couldn’t pull it off.

Radio Taiso Green Screen

I’ve done taiqi/ taiga/ taijichuan since the 1980’s. Sometimes I feel like I’ve drifted from the “form” and so I like to look at videos. This one is a favorite as it has a mirror image pretty much as you would if you were in a class.

I learned at the Taiqi Workshop on the Bowery. It was the location of Cheng Man Ching studio. “The Professor” as he was called had died a few years earlier but his students continued teaching. Below is a link to one the best films we have of him doing “the form”.

This is another exercise site I like a lot. It features a woman and her mother showing variations of walking and movement that can be done at home. She has stretching and chair exercises. I imagine you can add weights as well. search under yes2next.

Psoas release

I have a lot of patients with leg and back pain. A psoas release can often be very helpful. There a number of you tube videos on this. I like this one as it seems the most gentle. Also you can do this and dig into the pelvis as you imitate walking.
